My double-page spread is the highlight of my magazine, so it's important to thoroughly plan out what I want it to look like and include.
Since my genre is food, I plan on showcasing a dish on my double-page spread. I have yet to decide which food I will choose to make, but currently, I'm deciding between gnocchi or soup. The article will consist of a brief history of the dish and a recipe for that dish will be included. I would like to add a few images relating to the steps because when I conducted my target audience survey earlier this year, the majority of respondents preferred a visual representation of a recipe. The final product is going to take up just over a page. This is to make the dish the main focal point of my double-page spread. Plus, having it placed over two pages makes the spread more visually interesting. Below is a template I made that I plan on following.
I plan on reaching my target audience of young adults by including cuisines and flavors that are popular in today's world. This way, my audience would be attracted to the magazine. Those who come from a culture that created the food that I'm showcasing will feel represented.
