After analyzing the cover page, table of contents, and double-page spread of several magazines, it's now time to start thinking about the images I will create myself. While I haven't yet decided which dish I'm going to showcase, there are several standard props and equipment I plan on using.
The equipment I need to create my magazine includes pots and pans, kitchen utensils such as wooden spoons for mixing and stirring, measuring cups, and bowls. All of these would assist me in the creation of my dish and are all very necessary. Some props I may use are dining utensils, linen napkins, dinner/dessert plates, cups, and various ingredients that would be spread around the main dish. The purpose of these props is to set up my dish in a visually appealing way. I would also need cleaning supplies for post-production.
Fortunately, I have access to all of the equipment and props listed above. This would make the pre-production, post-production, and actual photoshoot process a lot more time and cost-efficient since I wouldn't have to purchase and look for the equipment and props. However, if I need to get a prop that I don't already have, I can easily source it from a friend or family member.
An issue I may run into is that my dish doesn't turn out the way I plan. This would be detrimental to my magazine since my entire photoshoot revolves around what I create. A way I can prevent this from happening is by choosing a recipe that has many positive reviews. If it were to happen, my backup plan is to find out where I went wrong and then start again so that I can fix my mistake. If it's a problem with the recipe itself, I can always pick a different one and try it out. Also, I would start the photoshoot much earlier than the due date so that I have time for errors and troubleshooting.
In brief, I plan on using many common household kitchen tools and tableware to make my vision come to life. The process of finding the equipment and props would be fast and easy. Lastly, my backup plan of starting earlier and finding out what I did wrong will help ensure that I get the best result possible.
