For my magazine genre, I chose to focus on food. I made this decision based on my experience shooting both food and fashion. While fashion was exciting, it was hard to get the backgrounds just right. For food, however, everything came a lot more naturally. I love to cook so the process was very enjoyable for me. Therefore, food was the best option for me.
A lot of food magazines have cluttered covers that take away from the featured dish. What would make my magazine stand out amongst them would be creating a clean and simple front page. This would make it more aesthetically pleasing to look at.
My magazine will be geared towards home chefs in general, not a specific social group. Males, females, children, and adults of all backgrounds can appeal to the magazine because it’s not biased toward one of them.
In short, I’m looking forward to start shooting a dish for my magazine because it suits me and my interests.
